My name is Cy Pruitt, and I write danmei-inspired romances that focus on second-chances and giving perfect endings to imperfect characters. I adore the freedom and creativity of webnovels, but reading it, as I got older, I often had a harder time relating to the characters–
In more than half of what I was reading, you knew it was true love because both characters, despite being sex gods, were also virgins. Well, what about the rest of us? Do I have to go dig my high school boyfriend out of the pile? But I like my husband so much!
I want characters that have a life trajectory that I can see myself and my friends in–characters with flawed first loves, odd coping skills, real and sometimes silly problems. I want imperfect characters who can still find each other and have wonderful stories and happy endings.
I also want to write the relationships that I wish I had read in fiction as I was growing up–I want protectiveness without paranoia, love without control, and respect between partners. So I started to write what I wanted to read, and here we are.
